Givenchy’s Man of the Hour

by Danielle Combs
“For me, darkness is something very beautiful.”

Despite his staggering status, Riccardo Tisci has managed to shield himself from social media traps and salacious news stories all while protecting his anonymity as a true creative force. It’s no surprise that Tisci is the man of the hour after opening his spring 2016 RTW collection to fashion’s most elite and the public: a rare feat that designers have never tackled until now. Tisci’s fourteen year tenure as Creative Director at Givenchy—the fabled French fashion house—was his initial starting point as a designer—he was a fresh-faced youth out of Central St. Martins and was a virtual unknown considering the importance of steering his design team. Here we look back at both Tisci’s finest moments as well as past collections from the late Alexander McQueen.
