Monogram Mania!

A

monogram is classic. A monogram is sophisticated and certainly timeless.

Right now we’re seeing a resurgence of monogrammed pieces all across the runway and, hopefully, our wardrobes! Burberry has done a beautiful wool poncho with Cara Delevingne’s very own initials, she wore down the catwalk and then took it on the road. Edie Parker has put letters on clutches and giving us some ‘baller’ options. This fall Rag & Bone helped bring the trend to this year’s runway with their emblazoned bomber jackets. Custom Del Toro smoking slippers come in any option you could want and practically scream luxury.

“Fashion is a wonderful form of self expression. Personalization allows you to go one step further–to create something truly unique, and tell the world who you are.”

-Brett Heymann, Founder and Creative Director of Edie Parker

A monogram marks us. It links us to a name, traditionally a family name, a legacy. That legacy has taken a twist and now includes brands. It proves to the public that we belong with the brand, we are part of the in-crowd. We belong in the luxury coat, and the luxury bag belongs to us. The very first monogram was used to legitimize the money itself, Roman coins were pressed with the ruler’s mark. It has risen as a sign of the powerful, for royalty to mark what’s theirs, for artists to own their work. It marks Mr. & Mrs. sleepwear, the cuff-links that get passed from father to son, and the vintage personalized button-up.

Now that mark is back, as an accessible nod to luxuries past and the future of high fashion that makes it your own. It has cycled through on letterman’s jackets, both then and now, initial bracelets further personalize our personal adornments. Now is the time to put your name on everything and be bold with that monogram!
