Modeling isn't just for models anymore. Today we are seeing empires being built over global multi-platform entertainment. Instead of seeing just our favorite supermodels grace the covers of our magazines and pose for the stunning editorial spreads in their pages, actresses and singers have saturated that market. Beginning in the 90's supermodels had to make space for this other breed of cover girl. Competition for those campaigns is on the rise as more and more super stars gain their eligilibity, which comes on the coattails of their celebrity in film, tv, music, tech, etc. Models still own the runway, but in order to stay ahead of the curve we are seeing these women emerge as personalities, their own entities, across (social) media. The tally of followers seems to be on a limitless incline. These new Instagirls are carving out their own opportunities to reach a wider, global audience. The supermodel has become accessible.
