DJ Nikki Pennie’s New Playlist

Here's what we're playing on repeat over at ICONHOUSE!

Music & the Runway

Not only did Public School's collection make some moves in New York, but they did so to some great jams. The models walked down the runway to the sounds of George Lewis, Jr. of Twin Shadow. We loved the combo of fashion and live music, and just want to keep listening. Here's the track if you missed it.

Vintage Ariana

Ariana Grande, princess of pop who has landed one of summer's hits with 'Problem', graces the cover of Billboard Magazine in a custom Bryan Hearns three piece polka dot ensemble. The look draws inspiration from classic 60's space films and the always fun, Barbarella.

In the August issue Grande talks about her upcoming album and the inspiration behind her vintage look and old school sound. "I have an obsession with all things vintage and classic and old-school, everything from Marlene Dietrich to Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons to Connie Francis."

What’s Playing At ICONHOUSE: Yuna

We're loving the soulful, pop sounds from new artist 'Yuna'. She hails from Malaysia and brings a quirky, bold style to the stage with super funky head wraps and chunky jewelry. Not to mention that voice! Check out a few tracks from this wave-maker, and check her out at one of the many festivals she's playing this circuit.

And of course. a remix!

The Dolls

This DJ and violinist team are as fashionably inclined as they are musically talented. Made up of Mia Moretti and Margot (Caitlin Moe), The Dolls is a recent collaboration between the two, with Moretti on the DJ booth and Margot on strings. They've created numerous string-enhanced remixes and, more recently, a single called "Summer of '93". We can't decide which is more fun: the music or the outfits!

Earth Day Artist: Pharrell

Pharrell is making much more than just music these days. He's the creative director of Bionic Yarn, a company creating high quality, versatile yarn fabric made from recycled ocean plastic. Bionic Yarn is a part of The Vortex Project as well, the initiative that is heading the cleanup of the plastic debris vortexes across our world's oceans. G-Star has hopped on the train with Bionic Yarn and is releasing a collaborative line of clothing available from August of this year.

Stories like these certainly make us happy!

ICONHOUSE Coachella Picks

Are you headed to Indio this weekend? If so, ICONHOUSE has a few under-the-radar artists to watch! From retro to futuristic, heavy base to light and folksy, these artists aren't to miss!

Foxygen

If you're looking for some laid back indie pop, Foxygen's show is where you'll find it. Their sound is nostalgic and whimsical, if not a little tongue in cheek

Blood Orange

Uber-musician Dev Hynes is behind this project. He's written for the likes of Florence and The Machine and The Chemical Brothers, and you almost woudn't know it. His personal style is unique and captivating.

HAIM

This trio of sisters from Los Angeles are impossibly hip and oh so fun. Listen to "Don't Save Me" below.

ICONHOUSE Video of the Week

For our first Video of the Week we welcome the LA-born songstress Banks, with her video for "Brain", a kaleidoscope of shapes and sounds.

What’s playing at ICONHOUSE: The Rolling Stones- A Tribute to L’Wren Scott

We pay our deepest respects to L’Wren Scott, the fashion designer who was a fellow stylist and costume designer in LA before moving her business to New York, London and Paris.

A beautiful, kind and incredibly talented lady who will be sadly missed. From her early modeling days in London where I styled her as “Lola” in a video, originally sung by the Kinks, to a glamorous dinner party in LA or experiencing her last exquisite, couture-quality show in London, L’Wren always made everything look like perfection. My last memory was that stream of vivid colors as the models walked by and Mick Jagger was smiling and applauding at the finale, whilst L’Wren, tall and statuesque, took her bow.

What’s Playing at ICONHOUSE: Phantogram, Beck, and Todd Terje

Phantogram

Check out Voices, the sophomore album from New York electronic duo Phantogram. Airy vocals are perfectly placed against hypnotic synths and loops. Throw in some heavy beats and you've got a workout soundtrack at the ready. Listen to "Fall in Love" below.

Beck

Beck's recently released Morning Phase is a mellow, ethereal album steeped in symphonic, nostalgic sounds. While it may pale in comparison to his previous works, it's beautiful in and of itself-a breath of calm in an otherwise hectic soundscape.

Todd Terje

Quirky Norwegian DJ and songwriter Todd Terje is slowly but surely making his way into the mainstream electronic ranks with his driving, unstoppable beats. Who wouldn't want to walk down a runway to "Delorean Dynamite"? We're looking forward to his full length album release on April 8th.
