Charlotte Tilbury | Beauty That Never Fades

by Danielle Combs
"Beauty is power and makeup is something that really enhances that; it's a woman's secret."

Charlotte Tilbury is among the league of iconic beauty masterminds who epitomizes modern beauty for the woman who always strives to look her best self. Her approach to highlighting a woman’s best features are timeless—with a single sweep she can create eyes that smolder and glisten, skin that radiates and lips that are flush and pout.

With the launch of her eponymous skin and makeup line, Tilbury is revealing the secret to looking (and staying) ageless. Her newest product that is garnering buzz is called ‘Eyes To Mesmerise’ and was conceptualized through the idea of incorporating “the beauty DNA of women throughout history who captivated the world through their mesmerizing, intoxicating gaze”.

The formula is seductive to say the least and each cream-to-sheen eye shadow formula can be used for a simple day look or heightened for a breathtakingly beautiful smoky eye—the possibilities are endless. Plus, each of the pigments are packed with a water-infused formula that glides on, Vitamin E which hydrates and soft illuminating pigments that give the eyes the covetable youthful appearance.

Each color was devoted to specific women whose beauty has captivated purveyors for years and years.

Cleopatra- “A vibrant smoky peacock shade inspired by one of the most powerful women in history. The allure of her eyes still awe-inspires 2,000 years after she ruled as Queen of Egypt and are the subject of the classic Elizabeth Taylor film which has influenced the fashion and beauty world ever since.”

Jean- “A sparkling, shimmering gold pink champagne in homage to Marilyn Monroe and Jean Harlow. Despite only living for thirty years, both Marilyn and Jean’s legendary status, sex appeal, mysticism and film-star flutter give them eternal iconic status and appeal. This shade perfectly off-sets crystal blue eyes.”

Marie Antoinette- “A soft, golden mink hue to echo the sensual femininity of Marie Antoinette who enraptured the entire French court, many of whom succumbed to her powers and could not say no. All those who knew her were instantly infatuated by her beautiful silver-blue eyes and even after her tragic end, she still holds the art, fashion and film worlds in a hypnotizing trance.”

Veruschka- “A mink khaki in homage to one of the most seductive beauties of the 1960s and 70s, Veruschka. Her iconic feline eye, designed to emulate that of the wild cat, kick-started the trend and is loved and celebrated by the fashion and beauty industry still today. The khaki-grey shade is designed to mimic the hue she so often wore to bring out her silvery blue eyes.”

Bette-“A wash of burnished chocolate inspired by one of the greatest icons in silver screen history, Bette Davis, known for her powerfully piercing and steely eyes. She is one of the most powerful presences to ever grace film and theatre and her appeal is immortal.”

Mona Lisa- “A warm, amber bronze in homage to the world-famous painting by Leonardo da Vinci. Mona Lisa’s lover’s gaze holds the power of unbreakable eye contact through a genius technique, invented by Leonardo da Vinci, called sfumato – you could call it the original smoky eye! This warm, hazy tone creates the same soft- focussed, smoky eye effect on the upper eyelid for a flawless, smooth finish.

Charlotte’s Tips For Completing The Look:
Step 1: Apply Eyes to Mesmerise using your fingers for soft, smooth and natural day look or my Blender Brush for a more intense, smoky evening look. Go from chiffon to a liquid lame finish by lightly dampening the brush.

Step 2: Apply Rock ‘n’ Kohl (in Bedroom Black, Barbarella Brown or Veruschka Mink) along the lashline to define the eyes.

Step 3: Finish with Full Fat Lashes for a full and fabulous flutter.
