Marc Jacobs| Collegiate Style Gets A Jolt of Americana Appeal

by Danielle Combs
“I always find beauty in things that are odd and imperfect. They are much more interesting.”

Truth be told, Marc Jacobs really needs no introduction: his clothes speak for themselves. Yet what makes Jacobs so insightful in approaching his concepts for each season is choosing to never settle for anything less than what he envisions. His latest spring 2016 collection, was exactly the type of clothes we wanted to see march down those runways: utterly cool, but with a classic collegiate twist that while also giving a slight nod to the girl who always managed to cut school but with style that could kill.

Marc Jacobs never disappoints: he is methodical in every nature and his late spring 2016 collection was easily the most talked about collections amidst the fashion vets and fellow purveyors in the audience. He was able to riff of American style while also giving his collection a revamp: edgier materials, sleek counterparts and come next spring every it girl will be donning his designs.

As much as it pained to see Jacobs leave Louis Vuitton it appears as though the designer is getting stronger with each collection: building concepts, constructing designs that will appeal to the girl who doesn’t mind a bit of grit and edge, the girl who doesn’t mind making a statement on the streets—that mean is the Marc Jacobs girl through and through.
