St. Vincent

“All you can do is make something you like and feel proud of and then just hope for the best and try to get out of its way.”

St. Vincent is a rare breed, where her music knows no limits or bounds and her lyrics and sounds can evoke raw, pure emotion. For a girl who grew up in Dallas, Texas she quickly discovered what artistry meant after dropping out of Berklee College of Music.

“I think that with music school and art school, or school in any form, there has to be some system of grading and measurement. The things they teach you are quantifiable. While all that is good and has its place, at some point you have to learn all you can and then forget everything that you learned in order to actually start making music.”

For St. Vincent creating music is more than just catchy lyrics and a bubblegum-pop riff. Her masterful creation of sound and emotion is what distinguishes her amongst today’s modern musicians and solidifies her body of work as a true artist.
