The 2016 Met Ball: The Futuristic Fashion Risks We’re Hoping Guests Take

The first Monday in May sees the fashion industry host one of the biggest, most glamorous, parties in the world - the Met Ball Gala. And they don't call it the "East Coast Oscars" for nothing; The Met Gala is attended by the biggest celebrities (Beyoncé! Madonna! Kim K! Oh my!), as well as designers and models, who are expected each year to wear only the most spectacularly beautiful gowns. The 2016 event is cohosted by none other than Taylor Swift—and we can't wait to see what she and all the other megastars wear.

In celebration of the opening of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's fashion exhibition, designers flock from all different coutntries to dress their muse - whether an actor, singer or an elite socialite - in their interpretation of the respective theme. This year's theme is Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology, which looks at the distinction between garments created in the Haute Couture handmade process vs machine-made. Celebrities and designers alike will be taking inspiration from the tech-driven and sometimes futuristic lives we lead and we can't wait to see who takes the biggest risks this year. Click through to look at the dresses we think are most Met-worthy and keep an eye out this coming Monday to see who's wearing who.
